Enhanced Training Requirements for Security Officers
Existing Security Officers (SO)
Existing Security Officers (SO) will be required to complete; Access Control Management (Operate Basic Security Equipment) by 31 Dec 2025 to meet the new licensing conditions. If not complete by the deadline, the officer will not be able to be deployed for SO Duties.
Starting 1st January 2024 SOs will be required to complete Security Surveillance Management (Perform Remote Surveillance Functions) to be eligible for promotion to SSO.
Existing Security Officers (SSO)
Existing Senior Security Officers (SSO) will be required to complete; Security Surveillance Management (Perform Remote Surveillance Functions) by 31 Dec 2025 to meet the new licensing conditions. If not complete by the deadline, the officer will not be able to be deployed for SSO Duties.
Starting 1st January 2024, SSOs will be required to complete Security Surveillance Management (Perform Remote Surveillance Functions) to be eligible for promotion to SS.
New Security Officers (SOs)
From 1 January 2024, New Security Officers (SO) Will be required to take the enhanced Basic Licensing Unit (BLU) Guard and Patrol, Access Control Management, as well as the other 2 original BLUs to obtain their PLRD License.
Required SOA:
1. Guard and Patrol, Access Control Management (Provide Guard and Patrol Services and Operate Basic Security Equipment)*(New)*
2. Threat Observation (Recognise Terrorist Threats)
3. Incident Response (Handle Security Incidents and Services)
License Renewal (All Officers)
Security Officers whose licenses are expiring on or after 1 January 2024 will be informed to attempt the online refresher quiz from 1 October 2023 (three months before their license expiry). PLRD will send out a renewal notice to the Security Officers three months prior to
their license expiry with a link to the quiz. The quiz is a 20 question MCQ that will cost $20 and officers will have unlimited attempts to finish the quiz.
